Bearpaw woke up on early morning and strutted out of the med. cat den and strolled over to the fresh kill pile and got a plump juicy mouse and nawed on its body. He soon finished his food and moved on back to the med. cat. "What should we do today Embertail?" the curious tom asked his mentor warily.

"Well I heard some of the clans have greencough, so I thought that we could help them and bring some catnip and such."Embertail replied."Hurry up and tell your mother where I'm taking you, be quick because we don't have a lot of day light left."

"Okay! Hey mom I am going to the other clan to give some catmint to!" he hollered. "Done! Now can we go!" he said excitedly.

"yes come on!", she said.
As they headed out of camp Embertail instantly picked up a strong smell of catmint. As they followed the smell they came to the old abandoned twoleg place. There, they leaped over the fence in to the overgrown backyard."What herbs do you smell Bearpaw?",asked Embertail.

He stared down at his paws because he almost said yarrow.

"Good thing you caught yourself!!!" Exclaimed Embertail,"But anyways catmint is correct now lets get a move on and gather some up."As Embertail was picking catmint she heard a sudden noise, it sounded like a cry for help,and it was close. "Bearpaw,asked Embertail, did you hear something???"

"Thank you! Ans yes it was close." he said the a sigh. He started to walk forward and then fell in to a deep hole. It stenched of...... Fox! He sounded a yelp of terror for the stench was new and he could hear panting in oneof the tunnels. "Help Starclan!" he yowled with terror and shock. He struggled to climb up, but the farther he went the deeper he fell in. But, he couldn't smell a mother fox or fresh milk. The milk smell wasn't even there.

"The mother and fresh milk smell isn't around! Only, cubs but very young probably don't have sharp claws!" he tried to scream over the panting of the foxes. "Go to the clan and get help! or dig down and get me!" he said sending a prayer to Starclan.

"Ummm....Let me try!" he hollered up the hole wjile sinking deeper into the den. He unsheathed his claws and climbed his way up using all of his strength but then all of a sudden something started pulling him down. "Embertail! Somethings pulling me down! Get help from the clan." he screamed in a wail.

"OK...Just hold on...I'll get help!" Embertail said in a panic. She raced back to camp to find someone, anyone to help her apprentice. Frostfang was the first cat she saw as she flew into camp. "Frostfang!! Come quick! Bearpaw is in troube! I need help!" She screamed to her fellow clanmate. Then without waiting for Frostfang she started to run back out of the camp.

Frostfang followed close behind barely tired all that running around when she was a kit payed off. "What wrong with Bearpaw? Why do you need my help?" She managed to ask. Frostfang knew she didnt need an answer but might as well ask so she knew what she was dealing with. Did a cat invade Fireclan camp? Did a badger attack Bearpaw? She set her worries aside and waited for Embertail's answer and prayed to Starclan that Bearpaw would be safe.

Embertail answered Frostfang as she raced through the trees. "He...fell in a fox den. I can't get him out and the fox smell is fresh!" Just then they reached the abandoned two-leg house. Embertail hopped onto the wall and dissapered on the other side.

Frostfang stood there terrified. She had a really bad encounter with a fox when she was young. Her mother had to rescue her that only came to worse memories. She slowly followed Embertail's scent and was ready to sprint out if any fox's were headed this way. What was she thinking? This was an apprentice in danger! She made her pace a little faster while being very cautious.
